ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - After more than 10 years at the University of New Mexico the head women's basketball coach, Don Flanagan, has resigned.
According to the Albuquerque Journal Flanagan has resigned after five freshmen players informed him of their intention to quit the team.
Flanagan, 67, had one more year remanding on his four-year contract extension signed in 2007. He took over the program in 1995 and has been with the program for 16 years .
Flanagan has guided the Lobos to 14 winning seasons and 13 postseason appearances, including eight trips to the NCAA Tournament.
UNM athletic director Paul Krebs and associate coach Yvonne Sanchez will take over coaching for the interim.
A press conference is scheduled Tuesday April, 5 to disccuss the position and celebrate Flanagan's career.
