Albuquerque (KRQE) - The L.A. Defenders have made former Lobo Dairese Gary the 16th overall selection of the 2012 NBA D-League draft. Gary was the Defenders first choice in the first round. Gary's stay with the Defenders was short. He has already been traded to the Fort Wayne Mad Ants. Another former Lobo Darrington Hobson played a few games with the Mad Ants last season after coming down from the Milwaukee Bucks. As a senior at New Mexico, the powerful point guard, Gary averaged 14 points and 5 assists per game. He had 130 consecutive starts before a torn ACL ended his college career in the 2010-2011 Mountain West Tournament. During his junior season Gary lead a New Mexico team that had 30 wins and picked up a number 3 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Gary is UNM's all time leader in wins by a scholarship player with 98.
