School tosses last hazing suspects

LAS VEGAS, N. M. (KRQE) - The last two football players accused in the Robertson High School hazing case won't be coming back to class.

After disciplinary hearings Thursday one was permanently expelled and the other suspended for a year, according to the Las Vegas City Schools district.

Four other players have already been suspended.  They applied to enter the high school in the adjoining West Las Vegas Schools district, but its principal turned them down.

All six suspects are accused hazing younger players at a preseason training camp last month.  Some of the victims told investigators they were sodomized with a broom handle.

The Robertson football coaches, all of whome had been suspended during an internal investigation by the school district, have resigned.

New Mexico State Police have turned over the results of a criminal investigation to the Santa Fe district attorney who will decide if charges should be filed.
