Hydrologist: Monsoons kind of on schedule

ALBUQUERQUE (AP) - A hydrologist with the National Weather Service says New Mexico's monsoons are "kind of on schedule."

But Ed Polasko says it depends on the part of the state.

He says rain has been spotty over the Middle Rio Grande from Santa Fe to Albuquerque.

Decent rains have fallen on the Raton and Cimarron area, and the eastern side of the Sangre de Cristos from Pecos to Las Vegas has received more consistent rain over the last week than the western side.

The state didn't get much moisture in June, but caught up a bit over the July Fourth weekend -- the week that the summer monsoons usually begin.
