SANTA FE (KRQE) - Snow, rain, wind, and cold hit all around the state Tuesday bringing an abrupt end to sunny skies and above average temperatures.

Much of New Mexico got a taste of that storm that moved through overnight. Some got rain, many got snow. The storm dumped snow across much of northern and western New Mexico.

And while most of metro Albuquerque missed out, the East Mountains sure didn't. Several inches were on the ground by morning, and it continued to snow throughout much of the day.

While state department of transportation crews were out all night, they couldn't keep up. South 337 was so slick that the driver of a pickup truck slid off the road and crashed into nearby trees. He was not hurt.

The capitol city, where the Legislature is now in session, also got a iced up

Shortly after 3 p.m. Santa Fe police began discouraging travel on St. Francis Driver between St. Michael's Drive and Interstate 25.  A travel advisory warned that stretch of thoroughfare was a sheet of ice.

The snow showers will continue in some places tonight.
