Ski biking slides onto Colorado slopes

DURANGO, Colo. (KRQE) - First there was skiing. Then, snowboarding. Now, there is a new way to rocket down the mountain, and it is called ski biking. It's happening at a ski hill near you.

KRQE News 13 photojournalist Ryan O'Connor caught up with some bikers catching big air at Durango Mountain Resort. Watch the video above to see what the experience is like.

Ski biking has been around since the 1850s. It was introduced in the U.S. in the 1950s.

Durango and Angel Fire both allow ski biking. If you plan to rent a bike, you have to get qualified first at the resorts.
