As President Barack Obama made history, students at Edison Middle School in Green Bay heard commentary from conservative talk radio host Rush Limbaugh.

"There it is folks. There it is. History in the making, with a botched oath," Limbaugh said during his coverage of the inauguration.

Limbaugh's show airs in Green Bay on WTAQ-AM. That's the radio station Edison Middle School hooked up to the PA system so students could listen to the inauguration.

"We were looking at each other open-mouthed, like, 'who is doing this?' Nobody should be doing this. And the principal came on and said it was inappropriate," said Edison sixth grader Anna Ziemendorf, who had never heard of Rush Limbaugh before.

After realizing the WTAQ broadcast was Rush Limbaugh's show, the school did switch to a different radio station for the majority of the inauguration.

Anna's mother could not believe Limbaugh made his comments during the inauguration. "Rush has got his show. He can make those comments anytime regarding it if he chooses to," said Mary Ziemendorf.

Anna's teacher, Amanda Griggs, was also upset with what happened. Griggs declined our request for an interview but in a voicemail she left with WTAQ said, "I'm very very disappointed you allowed this to happen. I'm disappointed in his choice to take a wonderful moment of history and to taint it the way he did."

"Twelve people called and were upset with what happened. Thousands of people listen to Rush Limbaugh," said WTAQ program director Jerry Bader, who actually agrees with Griggs that Limbaugh's comments were disrespectful.

However, Bader said he did not believe the comments were bigoted or hateful.

Bader forwarded Griggs' comments to the Rush Limbaugh show. Limbaugh addressed the situation on his show Wednesday.

"You know, indoctrination is going on in the public schools all over the place out there," Limbaugh said. Later, he said, "There's a lot of taint that has occurred in our culture, our pop culture, a lot of taint that has occurred in public education."

On his show, Limbaugh offered to come to Edison Middle School to speak about civics. He even offered to take 15 students for a trip on his private jet. No word on whether the school will accept his offer.

The Green Bay School District refused to comment about the situation on camera, but in a statement, said, "the district is at this time reviewing the incident and determining the facts. If needed, the district will have more to say on this matter at a later time."

A member of Limbaugh's show told FOX 11 that the radio host may revisit the issue on his show Thursday.
