(krqe) Albuquerque - Foam developed by scientists at Sandia National Laboratories to neutralize anthrax spores is now being used to clean up meth labs.
Mark Tucker helped create the foam in the height of the anthrax scares in the U.S. in the 1990s.
Tucker says the foam, which is made up of common household ingredients, is powerful enough to wipe out dangerous molecules, chemicals and microorganisms.
It was recently discovered that the foam could decontaminate a meth lab and everything contaminated by it with just one application. Other clean-up processes can take several applications and weeks.
The foam is now being used by private companies across the U.S. It is also being used for the cleanup of dangerous black mold.
Tuckers says unlike the other decontaminants, this foam is safe to the touch and can be vacuumed off of items after it is sprayed.
