ROSWELL, N.M. (KRQE) - When it is hot outside, people do the darndest things. One example of a wacky event is the Roswell UFO Festival in July.
Travelers come from all around the country to Roswell, New Mexico - in the southeastern part of the state - to "promote extraterrestrial education." "Expert" speakers teach attendants all there is to know about E.T.s.
Even Fido can come along, as there is an alien pet costume contest where anyone's pup can show off this season's "other-worldly couture."
Since the festival is held over July 4th weekend, the celebration is not lacking firework shows.
General admission is free, but certain events do have a charge.
On June 23, TripAdvisor ranked the UFO Festival as the fifth wackiest event this summer.
