ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Election Day is still four weeks away, but New Mexicans can start voting Tuesday for the Nov. 6 general election.
County clerks will begin mailing out absentee ballots and voters can go to their clerk's office to cast a ballot in person.
In Bernalillo County the initial early voting site is at the Clerk's Annex, 620 Lomas Blvd. NW in downtown Albuquerque. Sixteen more sites open around the county on Oct. 20 and will be open Monday-Saturday through the weekend before the election.
Tuesday also is the deadline for people to register to vote.
Four years ago, absentee voting accounted for one in five people who voted in the general election.
