ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Hundreds of violent offenders, including sex offenders, may soon be moving through Otero County.
This is according to the New Mexico Department of Corrections.
Corrections officials argue the move will save money and provide better treatment for sex offenders, but some legislators say it is too risky.
The first of up to nearly 300-offenders may be transferred to a privately run detention center in Otero County as soon as next month.
