ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - The fraud and money-laundering trial for former Secretary of State Rebecca Vigil-Giron has been pushed back.
Vigil-Giron and two codefendants were indicted in September on charges of misusing millions of federal voter education dollars during her term. Her trial was supposed to start on Monday, but it has been rescheduled for Jan. 3, 2011.
She claims the cash went to legitimate projects, including 43,000 TV spots that featured her.
After her term as secretary of state, Vigil-Giron worked at the Department of Workforce Solutions. The governor cut her post, along with 58 others, in an effort to balance the state budget.
