SANTA FE, N.M. (KRQE) - It is already a law in Albuquerque and several other cities, but texting-while-driving could soon be outlawed everywhere in New Mexico.
Representative Antonio Lujan of Las Cruces introduced a bill making it illegal to read or write text messages while behind the wheel, statewide.
A first offense would be a $25 fine, $50 for a second offense and a third would mean a suspended license.
