ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Record dollar amounts have been going into the state house races, as republicans try to gain a majority for the first time in decades.

Republican and democratic political action committees have dumped more than $3 million and that's just in the general election campaign.

It is a record for legislative races in New Mexico.

In the race for Albuquerque’s U.S. house seat, Republican Janice Arnold-Jones will have a tough time defeating Democrat Michelle Lujan Grisham according to polls.

The two are running for district one and are now trying to get last minute votes before voting ends Tuesday night.

An Albuquerque Journal poll released late last month shows Lujan Grisham ahead by 15 points.

A lot of New Mexicans will be following a big race Tuesday night, the U.S. senate contest between Democrat Martin Heinrich and Republican Heather Wilson.

Martin Heinrich cast his vote Tuesday morning at Bandalier Elementary in southeast Albuquerque

Most polls show Heinrich has a sizeable lead over Wilson. Wilson voted last week at Conejos Office Park.

She says her internal poll shows the race with Heinrich is a dead heat.
