SANTA FE (KRQE) - Acting Chief Robert Shilling of the New Mexico State Police can now drop "acting" from his title.
The state Senate unanimously confirmed the appointment on Monday.
Shilling joined the department in 1992 and previously worked for the Silver City Police Department.
He was named acting state police chief in January 2011 after the retirement of Chief Faron Segotta.
