ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - The father of a state representative has filed a lawsuit, saying he was pulled over and mistreated by police because of politics.
The suit was filed by Luciano Trujillo the 70-year-old father of State Representative Carl Trujillo.
According to the Santa Fe New Mexican, Luciano Trujillo was pulled over by Pojoaque Pueblo tribal police in March of 2011.
The suit alleges tribal officers were told to stop the Trujillo’s' vehicles and he was arrested and charged with DWI, but those charges were later dropped.
Pueblo officials say the incident was a routine traffic stop until Luciano Trujillo became abusive toward the officer.
