Poll: Romney closer in NM, down 11 percent

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - The presidential race in New Mexico may be tightening, but it still does not appear to be neck and neck.
A Rasmussen poll released Tuesday has 51 percent of likely voters choosing President Obama with only 40 percent supporting Mitt Romney. 6 percent of those polled said they'd support another candidate while just 2 percent were undecided.
The same poll taken in August had President Obama ahead by 14 percent instead of 11.
The President enjoyed strong support in the most recent poll from independent voters and women, boasting a 26 percent lead over Governor Romney for the female vote. Romney is favored by New Mexico men by five percent.
Former New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson's name was not specifically mentioned in the Rasmussen Poll.
A We Ask America poll released last week showed Johnson with about four percent of the vote.
