ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - The Rasmussen poll released Monday showed the gap is growing between Martin Heinrich and Heather Wilson in the race for the senate seat.
Rasmussen puts Heinrich up 52 to 39 over Wilson in the race for senate.
Just over a month-ago those same pollsters put Wilson at a seven point deficit.
In the latest poll, Rasmussen included an option for another candidate who collected three percent of the vote.
That other candidate is independent candidate Jon Barrie.
“I think he has the potential to shake things up a lot but I think given his tea party alliances if he's going to pull voters from anybody, it's probably going to be Wilson and that's not a good sign,” UNM Political Science Professor, Gabriel Sanchez said.
Last month the republican senate campaign committee pulled hundreds of thousands of dollars it set aside for Wilson ads to focus on more competitive races.
