FEMA helps pay for Timberon Fire fight

SANTA FE (KRQE) - The Federal Emergency Management Agency has approved the state's request for help the state pay cover the cost of fighting the day-old Timberon Fire in southern New Mexico.

Gov. Bill Richardson's office on Thursday said the state Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management will administer the funds.

The FEMA grant will cover 75 percent of the cost of fighting the fire, which sparked Wednesday near the town of Timberon.
