ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Lawmakers are considering more severe penalties for those who expose children to meth.

Some lawmakers want to make it child abuse to expose children to meth usage, meaning if a child is in a home where meth is being used, charges can be filed against the adults in the home.

It's already child abuse to expose kids to meth manufacturing.

State Rep. Nora Espinoza is pushing the measure. It passed on the house floor Saturday, and is now moving to the senate.
