ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - The election to determine New Mexico's next governor is still a year away, but those who want the top job aren't wasting any time.

Lt. Gov. Diane Denish appears to already have the Democratic nomination sewn up.

However it's a horse race in the Republican camp.

Saturday, supporters of Republican Allen Weh celebrated the grand opening of his Albuquerque campaign headquarters.

Weh announced his campaign had collected enough signatures to ensure him a spot on the Republican primary ballot on Friday.

His campaign collected more than 2,100 signatures.

Three other Republicans have announced their candidacy for the job, including state Rep. Jancie Arnold-Jones, Doña Ana County District Attorney Susana Martinez and public relations firm owner Doug Turner.
