FARMINGTON, N.M. (AP) - The Mayor of Farmington has decided that three terms as the city's chief executive are enough.

Mayor Bill Standley announced Tuesday before the City Council he won't run for re-election next year.

Standley said the decision was not health related. The mayor has had two past bouts with cancer.

Standley said he had intended on running but changed his mind in what he said was an agonizing decision.

Standley has been Farmington Mayor since 1998.
