SANTA FE (KRQE) - Legislators had hoped to wrap up their special budget session by noon and then by late afternoon. Now it may be this evening.

On the third day of their special session have yet to finalize a budget for the fiscal year that begins July 1.

However legislators say they are making progress.

The Senate and House each passed their own bills late Tuesday night and into the morning that would deal with a revenue shortfall that could reach $600 million.

Each chamber is now working its way through the bill passed by the other with hopes of completing their work by the end of the day.
