SANTA FE (KRQE) - Lawmakers have 272 improvement projects across the state on the chopping block, and many are fighting to save what's important to their districts.
Elected leaders and people representing schools and communities across the state crammed into the Senate Finance Committee hearing on Thursday.
They heard why their pet projects may be eliminated: many of them are already stalled or, in some cases, proper procedures were not precisely followed.
The cuts, if they pass, will save the state roughly $130 million bringing the state's reserves back to 5 percent. That could preserve the state's bond rating.
