SANTA FE (KRQE) - The house passed a bill Tuesday requiring schools to prevent bullying.

The vote came as students and advocates rallied inside the roundhouse against what they say is a "bullying epidemic".

Representative Rick Miera's bill would require schools to have bullying-prevention programs in place by this august.

Miera says a study found nine-percent of New Mexico high school students have skipped class to avoid a bully.
