SANTA FE (KRQE) – The unsettled battle over the budget may mean doom for the Domestic Partnership Bill.
Sen. John Arthur Smith said he will not hold a hearing, let alone allow a vote, on the bill in the Senate Finance Committee until budget issues are resolved.
The Senate Public Affairs Committee approved the bill last week, but referred it to Smith's committee because there may be financial implications.
With the budget fight apparently headed for deadlock, the bill is in big trouble.
