HOBBS, N.M. (AP) - The Hobbs City Commission has narrowed its search for a new city manager down to four candidates.
The Hobbs News-Sun reports that the commission will bring the four candidates to Hobbs on Aug. 21 for closed-door interviews.
Hobbs has been without a full-time city manager after the retirement of Eric Honeyfield on June 30.
Although the commission already held one round of interviews for city manager candidates in June, the commission's finalist selected from that round declined to take the job.
The commission decided to restart the selection process for a second round.
In the interim, the commission named Hobbs Fire Chief Manny Gomez as the acting city manager.
The job is expected to pay around $130,000 a year, plus benefits.
