ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - The first of four debates between Senate candidates Rep. Martin Heinrich and former Rep. Heather Wilson is scheduled for Thursday in the KRQE News 13 studios.

Dick Knipfing will moderate the debate.  There will be no time limits, and candidates will be allowed to challenge one another.

Republican Wilson and Democrat Heinrich will face off at 6 p.m.  The debate also will be streamed live on KRQE.com

A debate had been proposed for Monday night on New Mexico's PBS stations, but the invitation was not accepted by both candidates.  The offer stills stands should Heinrich and Wilson decide to debate a fifth time.

The other three confirmed debates are:

  • Wednesday Oct. 17, Las Cruces:  Las Cruces Sun-News / KFOX-TV (C-SPAN will broadcast live) 6-7 p.m. at the Doña Ana County Commission Chambers.
  • Sunday Oct. 21, Albuquerque:  KOAT-TV / Albuquerque Journal 6-7 p.m. at the KOAT studios.
  • Thursday Oct. 25, Albuquerque:  KOB-TV 7-8 p.m. at Sandia High School.
