ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Governor Martinez is urging lawmakers to expand Katie’s Law.
The legislation would require a DNA sample from anyone arrested for a felony crime in New Mexico.
The governor said that would help law enforcement catch more criminals.
The measure passed the House Judiciary Committee by a 10 to one margin.
That clears the way for an up or down vote on the floor of both the House and Senate.
