Eddy County elects first GOP sheriff

CARLSBAD, N.M. (KRQE) - For the first time in history Eddy County has a Republican sheriff.

Scott London, a sergeant with the Artesia Police Department, beat out Democratic incumbent Ernie Mendoza.

In the last sheriff's race Mendoza defeated his Two Republican opponents in a landslide.

In Tuesday's London came out well ahead by nearly 1,300 votes.
