Deputies back sheriff's opponent

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Bernalillo County Sheriff Manny Gonzales suffered a big blow when the deputies' union announced their support for his Republican opponent Dan Houston.

In a scathing news release, the union claimed Gonzales has proved ineptitude for his position and lacks proper leadership ability.

Gonzales was appointed to the position less than a year ago when former sheriff Darren White left for a job with the city. News 13 could not reach Gonzales for comment Sunday afternoon.
