City release 2010 July 4th statistics

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - The City of Albuquerque has released their statistics from the Fourth of July Holiday weekend including number of illegal firework dispatches and citations, as well as attendance at the Freedom Forth celebration at Balloon Fiesta Park.

Complete numbers from the Fire and Cultural Services Department

Albuquerque Fire Department calls of illegal firework dispatches from Friday, July 2nd at 8:00 am to Monday, July 5th at 8:00 am: 514.

What area of the city AFD responded to the most for illegal fireworks:

  • NE - 48%
  • NW - 28%
  • SE - 13%
  • SW - 11%

Number of firework injuries: 0

Number of illegal firework citations that were given from Friday- Monday: (6) six citations were issued from FMO, the total from the field is still being calculated.

The total number of illegal firework calls from Friday, July 2nd at 8:00 am through Monday, July 5th at 8:00 am on the hot line, non-emergency line and 911:

There were a total of 1,055 calls for illegal fireworks from July 2nd - July 5th, 490 of those calls were received through the Alarm Room July 2nd - July 5th and 565 of those calls were received on July 3rd and July 4th when the EOC was activated.

July 2nd-5th 3 small brush fires and a trash fire was reportedly started by fireworks over the weekend

Attendance at the Freedom Fourth celebration: estimated 40,000 to 50,000
