Carlsbad Mayor accused of abusing authority

CARLSBAD, NM (KRQE) - Carlsbad, New Mexico Mayor Dale Janway is being accused of "abusing his authority."

Police union members are accusing Mayor Janway of ordering officers to fix traffic tickets and change other citations for people he knew.

Among the citations in question is one for an illegally parked car and another for a person having a dog without tags.
    
The state attorney general's office confirmed that officials are looking into the allegations.

Janway said he wouldn't comment until he's contacted by the AG's office.
