ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - George Buffett, founder of Albuquerque’s Buffett's Candies and former New Mexico State Legislator passed away over the weekend.
Buffett was 83-years-old.
In 1956 the UNM grad started up the candy shop on Lomas Blvd, which has become an Albuquerque landmark.
In 1978 Buffett was elected to the New Mexico State legislature and served until 2002. He represented New Mexico District 24, which is in Albuquerque’s Northeast Heights.
His family said Buffett died from heart problems.
