ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - The state house has passed a bill cracking down on where certain welfare recipients can withdraw money from their EBT cards.

Tuesday night KRQE News 13's Kim Holland reported on how some people were gaming the system by withdrawing cash from the cards at bars, liquor stores and strip clubs, then spending the money there.

Albuquerque Republican Representative Nate Gentry's bill prohibits that.

Without the bill, the state could lose out on $5 million in federal aid.
