AZTEC, N.M. (AP) - Aztec city commissioners are slated to vote Tuesday on a contract with their top choice as city manager.
Joshua Ray has been city manager in Whiteville, N.C., for the last two years and also served as city manager of Biscoe, N.C., from 2003 to 2007.
The contract vote would finalize a search that lasted for more than six months. Ray could be in the job by the start of the year.
Ken George, director of the city's electric division, has been interim manager since shortly after David Velasquez resigned as manager in May.
George says that in a small city such as Aztec, the manager's duties include everything from answering residents' calls to overseeing construction projects.
