SANTA FE, N.M. (KRQE) - Santa Fe Police say one of their own was hit by a 17-year-old suspected drunk driver, and all of it was caught on tape.

The crash totaled the car of officer Jessica Purdy.  Police say Purdy and another officer were heading down Airport road in separate cars about a mile apart.  They say the lead officer spotted a truck roll through a stop sign.  The officer did a u-turn and began following the truck when he saw it make a crazy left turn and slam into officer Purdy.

Purdy managed to swerve her car so the middle of the patrol car took the brunt of the crash. Purdy has neck and back injuries, but police say she could have been more seriously hurt had she not acted quickly.

Police say the driver of that truck was 17-year-old Julio Landeros.  They say he failed a field sobriety test and are waiting for results of his blood alcohol test taken at the scene. He has been charged with aggravated DWI as well as a number of other charges. Police found open and unopened beers in the truck.  The passenger, an 18-year-old female, told police they had just left a party.
