ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) - If you're looking to pay for sex, you might want to think twice. This week Albuquerque police started a summer program called "Operation Curb Side."
On Thursday police arrested 30 people including a husband and wife in search of a prostitute. Police say suspected johns approached undercover officers about every five to 15 minutes during their investigation. Some were willing to pay with cash and others wanted to pay with drugs.
"It's one of the busiest underground crimes that's going on in our city right now," said an undercover Albuquerque Police Department officer.
Police say this is part of a bigger problem that includes drug abuse. They say most prostitutes are drug addicts in need of serious help.
APD plans on conducting "Operation Curb Side" throughout the summer.
