ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - He showed no remorse and did not cry but Vince Harrison knew Nehemiah Griego was acting suspiciously.

The 15-year-old showed up at Calvary of Albuquerque at Osuna Road and Washington Street Saturday night around 9 p.m.

"With my training, with my background, I've worked many many crime scenes," said Harrison a former Albuquerque Police detective and head of security at the church. "Something just didn't seem right with what he was saying."

Harrison said he has known the Griego family for about a decade and says the church was their life. He described Nehemiah Griego as very respectful.

Griego also played drums in the youth group at church, but nobody thought the teen could allegedly kill his parents and three siblings.

Sources say he contemplated shooting up the church as he sat in the parking lot for up to an hour. Instead Griego went inside and came upon a youth pastor.

That man shook his hand and put his arm around Griego. He also noticed Griego was acting oddly. So he called Harrison.

Griego told a youth pastor that his family was dead, but he never admitted to them that he killed them.

"Something just didn't seem right with him," Harrison said.

Harrison drove the boy to the south valley. About a mile from the Griego house on Long Lane, Harrison called 911 to summon the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Department.

Later that night detectives said Griego confessed to killing his family.

That news shocked the Calvary community. Harrison said he has no idea what set the boy off.

"Great kid seemed like a pretty very solid family," Harrison said. "No idea what demons are in the closet."
