Baby floats recalled; straps can tear

WASHINGTON (KRQE) - Aqua-Leisure Industries is recalling about 4 million inflatable baby floats because straps that help hold the child can tear, possibly causing the child to unexpectedly fall into the water.

The affected floats have a date of between 08/02 and 07/08 on the valves. Floats with the lettering "NP" molded on the valve are not affected, nor are products with a hard plastic seat or no leg holes at all.

The recall involves several different styles of floats, listed below. Model numbers are on the packaging.

• Baby & Me Combo, a yellow figure-8-shaped float, model ET-9105
• Deluxe Baby Boat, a yellow boat-shaped float, models ET-9110, ET-9110EU, ET-9910KM, ET-9110SU, ET-9110WG, ET-9110WM, ET-9110WMUS, LT-9110L
• Deluxe Toddler Racer, a yellow boat-shaped float with steering wheel, models ET-9215, ET-9215DG, ET-9125DOL, ET-9215SU, LT-9215L
• Cozy Crab Sunshade Float/Crabby Baby Boat, a red crab-shaped float with a yellow adjustable sunshade, models SA-3223, SA-3223/24, SA-3223/24-1B, SA-3223/24-2A, SA-3223/24TG, SA-3223/24WM, SA-3223AU, SA-3223KR, SA-3223LD
• Ticklish Turtle Sunshade Float/Baby Boat, a yellow and green turtle-shaped float with a green adjustable sunshade, models SA-3224, SA-3224AU, SA-3224KR, SA-3224LD, SA-3224WM
• Toddler Race Boat, a car-styled float, model SA-3225
• Aquarium Baby Float, a yellow and purple float with yellow-background aquarium décor, models LD-3236 and SA-3236

• Sunshade Buggy/Sunshade Water Buggy, a blue or pink car-shaped float with a yellow steering wheel and a green or yellow canopy, models SA-3244, SA-3244TG, SA-3244WM, WM-3244
• Kiddie Cabin Cruiser, a light blue, purple and clear boat with a light blue canopy, models LD-3248, SA-3248, SA-3248DG, SA-3248DOL
• Sing-Along Wave Rider, a white and red inflatable float with red speedboat-like handlebars and a red canopy, models SA-3252 and WM-3252
• Quacker Float, a yellow duck-shaped float with squeezable noisemaker, model TR-7420
• Squirtin' Tootin' Tugboat, a white and red boat-shaped float with a squirt gun and squeezable noisemaker, model SA-7431

Consumers should stop using these floats and contact Aqua-Leisure at 866-807-3998 between 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Eastern time (6:30 to 3:30 Mountain time) Monday through Friday for a full refund.
