ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Albuquerque Mayor Richard Berry is teaming up with the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra to make sure the show goes on.
The fundraiser called "Keep the Symphony Playing" set as its goal raising $2 million by Aug. 31.
Berry said when the when the symphony succeeds, so does the community and the economy.
"As we try to attract businesses to Albuquerque, one of the things people ask is, 'What's the art scene in Albuquerque?'" he said. "The symphony is one part of that and an important part."
The future of the symphony was in jeopardy after salary cuts prompted management to postpone the season. After several months management and musicians came to an agreement.
