ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Sandoval County Deputies say a missing hiker was found dead Saturday morning.

Thomas Ilg, 54, hiker was reported missing Friday while taking photos in the Jemez Mountains.

Saturday morning Ilg was found at the base of a 100 foot cliff, dead.

Police say the experienced hiker who was familiar with the area apparently fell off a cliff.

The Albuquerque journal reports Ilg worked as a staff member at Los Alamos National Laboratory since 1996.

That was one of two deaths, the Sandoval County Sheriffs Department investigated Saturday.

A 55-year-old David Sturm was cutting down a tree on Cochiti Mesa when it fell on top of him and knocked him over the edge of a cliff.
