TIJERAS, N.M. (KRQE) - Bernalillo county sheriff's deputies continue their investigation Sunday morning into the fatal head-on crash south of Tijeras.

It happened around 4:30 Saturday afternoon on Highway 337.

Deputies say 85-year-old Barbara Rice of Tijeras, was driving a Jeep Cherokee northbound when she crossed into the southbound lanes, hitting the GMC Yukon.

Rice was airlifted to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.

There were eight people inside the other vehicle.

All were taken to the hospital, but their injuries were not life-threatening.

There is no word yet on what caused the crash, but deputies do not suspect alcohol.
