LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) — Authorities say man has died in a motorcycle accident in Las Cruces.
Las Cruces police identify the victim as 25-year-old Wayne Andrew "Drew" Jaramillo.
They say he crashed into a friend's vehicle at a high rate of speed just before 1 a.m. Thursday.
Investigators believe speed and alcohol may be contributing factors in the accident.
Witnesses told police that Jaramillo and his friends were leaving a Las Cruces restaurant and he allegedly was performing stunts on his motorcycle while wearing a helmet.
They say Jaramillo rode through a posted stop sign at a high rate of speed and crashed into a pickup driven by his friend, who was headed to Jaramillo's home.
Police says Jaramillo was transported to Mountain View Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
