CLOVIS, N.M. (AP) — Authorities say a man has been re-indicted for his alleged involvement in a 2011 double homicide in Clovis.
New Mexico prosecutors say 28-year-old Enrique DeLeon originally was indicted for first-degree murder in the deaths of Joe Valero and Guadalupe Castaneda on Sept. 13, 2011.
Clovis police say DeLeon and the 44-year-old Valero got into a fight during a cookout at Valero's home.
They say DeLeon left and came back with a gun. Shots were fired and Valero died at the scene. The 25-year-old Castaneda later died at a Texas hospital.
Authorities say the shooting took place in the presence of the victims' two children.
DeLeon remains in custody on a $750,000 cash-only bond. He's being held on two counts of first-degree murder plus counts of child abuse and other charges.
