ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — Law enforcement officers used a spike belt to deflate the tires of a vehicle that was the subject of a chase in the Albuquerque area for about a half-hour.
A police helicopter followed the vehicle during part of the Friday morning chase as ground units turned off their lights and sirens and backed off.
Deputy Aaron Williamson of the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Department says the driver was arrested without incident once the chase ended.
According to Williamson, the chase began when a sheriff's deputy saw a station wagon being driven recklessly.
Williamson says the station wagon almost hit workers in a construction as the chase began and later on it hit another vehicle whose driver was not injured.
Williamson identified the man arrested as 25-year-old Lawrence Gonzales.
