LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) — Officials hope new additions and renovations at Burn Lake Park will bring the park back to life amid severe drought.
KVIA-TV reports (http://bit.ly/13lnToT) that Las Cruces officials are designing for the park new picnic areas, more shade and new play areas for children. Assistant City Manager Brian Denmark says they also are adding a trail that would go all the way around the lake bed.
Severe drought has reduced Burn Lake to a large hole full of dirt, trash and some dry shrubs.
Denmark says the entire project will cost around $700,000.
He says the project is still in the design phase.
