CHAPARRAL, N.M. (AP) - Medical investigators have identified a toddler and two other
people who died in a mobile home fire in southern New Mexico.
The victims were 20-year-old Elena Diaz; her brother,
17-year-old Rodolfo Diaz; and her infant daughter, 14-month-old
Eileen Millan.
All three were found inside a back bedroom of the trailer.
Authorities say bars on the windows and intense flames and smoke in
a hallway prevented their escape and kept firefighters from
rescuing them during Wednesday night's blaze.
A man living on the opposite end of the trailer escaped
without injuries.
Investigators say the fire was caused by improperly spliced
wires that provided power to the home.
