LAS CRUCES (KRQE) - A pilot escaped injury after his small plane went down south of Interstate 10 near the Las Cruces airport Friday night.

State police say it's unclear if the single-engine plane crashed or had an emergency landing three miles from the airport.

The Las Cruces Sun News reports the pilot, the only person onboard, was shaken up but suffered no injuries.

The FAA will investigate.
