MOGOLLON, N.M. (AP) - Officials at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas, say a search has been launched for four soldiers and a civilian believed missing after a weekend kayak trip on Mogollon Creek in New Mexico's Gila National Forest.
Military officials say Spc. Alton Weber and Sgt. Nicholas Mummert were confirmed overdue Monday morning. Two other soldiers as well as a civilian, identified as Angelica Gonzalez from El Paso, are believed to be missing with the men.
Fort Bliss officials say New Mexico state police on Monday afternoon located a white Suburban that they believe belongs to the group at the Grapevine camp site.
Fort Bliss said the last known contact from the group was about 10:30 Saturday morning.
